The time has come to say goodbye to Tableau. After 6+ awesome years, I got the itch. I’ve moved to Unifi Software, where I’ll continue to help solve issues related to data!
It’s always about the data, after all…
Unifi is cool in that they are attacking the challenge of acquiring, cataloging, prepping and securing data – all on a single platform. Their roadmap looks like a candy store for the data and analytics enthusiast. They’re very cloud-friendly, of course. And…this stuff is built for mere mortals.
That’s right, go ahead. Say it. Self-Service.
What will become of Tableau Love? Will I continue to blog?
I will continue to maintain Tableau Love, and I’ll stay busy on the keyboard.
Based on the traffic I see here, the site still appears to be helping folks. It deserves to live to a ripe old age. I plan to start up a different blog that is more Unifi focused, too. And don’t worry – there are tons of potential integration points between the two products and I can’t wait to build some Rube Goldberg contraptions using both. Hello, Extensions API!
Now, I ride into the sunset. But, when you have challenges finding, cataloging, securing, and prepping data before you feed it to Tableau…give me a ring!
Tableau is losing an amazing asset and person. Thanks for all the assistance you’ve provided, directly and via this blog, to my customers.
You’ve been an enormous presence in the Tableau community for you challenged us to go beyond what we thought possible with the tool. Thank you for your past, present and future contributions to the Tableau community and best wishes in all your future endeavors.
Best wishes to you in your new endeavor Russel! Tableau, and the Tableau community are losing a great one. Unifi are lucky to have you.
Best of luck Russell, thanks for all your Tableau ideas/geekiness/shenanigans over the years!
Now Tableau has data preparation with Tableau Prep !!! Tableau 2018.1
